Obama in Edison, NJ Part Two (Marine One Pictures)

Here are a few pictures from my iPhone of the Marine One going over my house:

Obama in Edison, NJ

How often does it happen to work out that the President of the United States visits your town... to visit a sub shop at that! Next to never?

That's exactly what's happening this afternoon! Obama is traveling to good old Edison, NJ -- to "Tastee Sub Shop" to be exact... which is like only a few minutes away from my house. It just happens to be located at the worst intersection known to mankind so I can't even imagine what the traffic will be like today with road closures and what not (considering how annoying it is to cross that intersection on a normal day).

I've been to a few rallies where Obama has been the key guest, most notably last October where I got to meet and even shake hands with President Obama (and see Bill Clinton a day earlier at my university). And while today might be another good opportunity to "see" him, I'm not sure I want go through the hassle considering it'll be kinda hard to beat last October.

Just a funny thought though - Obama is in town to promote small businesses but him being in town is going to limit and close small businesses in the area for the day for security reasons and whatnot.

But oh well, I can still say: Obama came to my town. to eat a sub!

What's For Dinner: Homemade Spicy Cajun Chicken Pizza

Here's how I made my "Spicy Cajun Chicken Pizza"

To make the pizza dough I used:
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
Directions for the pizza dough:
  1. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water.
  2. Then add oil, salt, and two cups of  flour and blend on medium for three minutes.
  3. Add the remaining two cups of flour to the mixture and form the dough (the consistency is so much better this way).
  4. knead for about five minutes on a floured surface. Cover and let it rise. I let it rise for two hours. You can, of course, just get pizza dough to make it easier or if you are short on time. I use store-bought pizza dough a lot. Why not get help from the store when you can?
For the chicken, I cut them into tiny bite size pieces. I added in: salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, cajun seasoning, and oil. I marinated it well and cooked it over low heat so the flavors really absorbed.

I've always wanted to make my own marinara sauce, but didn't have everything to make marinara sauce so I just used the store-bought version. Just use your favorite.

Now, for putting the pizza together:
I baked the crust off about half way, then added the marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and the cooked cajun chicken and baked it off and voila -- you have spicy cajun chicken pizza :)

Options

Apparently nowadays, everyone's favorite question to ask me is: "so what are you doing nowadays?" or "so what are you going to do now?" when they learn that I'm not going for the whole law school route (at least for now).

As simple as that question is, it is driving me absolutely INSANE (that's the nice way to put it).

Um, if I knew, I would tell you.

You know how they always tell you to have a back up plan? Yeah, well I didn't.

Since I always thought/assumed I'd be going to graduate school (law school) right after I finished my undergraduate years at Rutgers, I didn't even bother to get a jump-start in worrying about finding a job in this horrible job market... because trust me... it's beyond horrible. It seems like all I do these days is search for jobs online nowadays and its getting tiring fast.

So lesson learned people - KEEP YOUR OPTIONS OPEN!!! I can't stress that enough. Know what you want, that is for sure, but have a back up plan.

Don't just assume you'll deal with it when the time comes.

Don't just assume things will work out the way you want. Hopefully it will, but you just never know.

Just last night (when I was wide awake until 4:30 A.M.) I was thinking that this coming fall will be the first time in eighteen years that I won't be going back to school. Usually my schedule has always been so hectic with a full load of classes and work along with other commitments, that I can't even begin to tell you how weird this all is. As crazy and hectic as it always got, when I think of it, that's how I like it - I HATE just sitting  around at home and having so much free time... I'm just not used it!

Keep your options open... can't stress that enough.

Root Canal, Part Two

Would you believe that six dentist appointments later, the whole root canal business is finally over today? I finally got the permanent crown put in earlier this afternoon. I can't believe this took SEVEN weeks - when it usually takes one or two visits!

A Quick Recap of the Weekend

I HATE when everyone leaves at the same time, and that is exactly what happened this past Sunday. We had family arriving last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for various family gatherings, but they all left Sunday.

On Friday night, our aunt and uncle (Chotti Anna and Javed Chachoo) hosted a BBQ, and it turned out to be a graduation party for all the graduates in our immediate family (six of us from NJ and one from Canada) and a house-warming party for them at the same time. Saturday, we had a brunch at our house and that night was Shahbaz's Graduation Party.

Not only did all my aunts and uncles and their families leave, but so did Faraz!

If I said it didn't seem weird, I would be lying.

I guess it will take some getting used to. Even though Faraz has lived away in Hoboken for five years, we still saw him a couple of time a month. We're planning on going to Canada at the end of the month though, so we'll see him then.

Sunday night, after all of our relatives had left, we went to see the fireworks at Piscataway High School and then yesterday went to NYC for a few hours in a the evening. It's funny that we have lived here for so many years (ten to be exact) and haven't really seen many of the tourist spots.

Max Brenner

Yesterday, my brothers, Shazia and I went to Max Brenner in NYC. Faraz had been there before, but it was the first time for the rest of us.

While 'Chocolate Chunks Pizza' by name doesn't sound so appetizing, it was absolutely delicious (and not as heavy as I was expecting it to be) :

it consists of double chocolate melting chunks, bananas, and peanut butter.
