Earth Hour 2009

Turn out. Take action.
Be part of this historic event.
March 28, 2009, 8:30 pm local time (that's tomorrow night)
World Wildlife Fund is asking individuals, businesses, governments and organizations around the world to turn off their lights for one hour – Earth Hour – to make a global statement of concern about climate change and to demonstrate commitment to finding solutions.

Earth Hour originated in Sydney, Australia in 2007, when approximately two-million people participated in the local event by turning off their lights. In 2008, the event went global, and over 50-million people worldwide participated!

Parent's 25th Wedding Anniversary Party

This past Saturday night, my brothers and I had invited some family over (around 60 people came) for a dinner party to celebrate our parent's silver jubilee (which is actually today).

My goodness, planning a party is sooo much work, but so worth it - mostly everything turned out great and everyone had a lot of fun. The food was great, and so was the cake! The whole weekend turned out to be a family filled weekend and I love when that happens!

Congratulations Abu and Ami on your 25th Wedding Anniversary! Inshallah, you are blessed with MANY more. I pray for a long, happy, and blessed life together for the both of you.

Love you lots,

On Spring Break... FINALLY!

I just submitted my last paper and now i'm on spring break! I know it's just going to fly by... so I definitely have to enjoy it. Tomorrow night, my brothers and I have invited some of our family over to help celebrate our parent's 25th Wedding Anniversary (their actually anniversary is in the middle of next week)... so that should be a lot of fun!

There's nothing like...

... roaming the streets of Manhattan in the middle of night. Thankfully, the weather was great too! On Saturday night, my brothers, nine cousins, and I ventured out to eat at 53rd and 6th (really delicious gyro sandwiches/platters) and then walked around for a couple of hours. I saw the Apple store for the first time - it is amazing! The store is underground, but the building itself is glass. Right across from that is the Plaza Hotel (most people remember it from Home Alone 2)... which was pretty cool too.

Contrary to what you would think, most of the things close REALLY early in Manhattan! Whatever happened to the 'city that never sleeps'?

It's pretty funny (and sad) how close we live to the city, yet haven't explored it too much at all.

Snow Day!

So as I am hanging out with my cousins and brothers, my mom lets me know that Rutgers canceled classes for Monday!! I was so surprised, because Rutgers next to never cancels class. Mind you, this time Rutgers announced the cancellation of classes BEFORE it even began to snow!!

Hopefully I'll catch up on some sleep tonight.. and more importantly, catch up on school work tomorrow!!

What a perfect ending to a great weekend. This weekend was, by far, one of the most fun times ever.

Festive Weekend

What a fun weekend! Don't you hate how fast time flies when you are having fun?

My cousin, Maria Baji, had her Nikkah (Islamic Marriage) yesterday... so the whole weekend has been a very family oriented weekend. Congratulations Maria Baji! You looked absolutely GORGEOUS, mashallah. Weddings are so much fun, but so exhausting... and I definitely can't function without sleep.

Now back to the harsh reality of exams and papers!! :( Is it summer vacation yet?

I think I'm looking forward to this coming summer vacation most because I don't have any major plans - which means a lot of time to just relax... besides studying for the LSATs of course! I don't have any internship plans, or even any plans to work.. which i probably will end up doing just so i don't go crazy from having so much free time that I don't know what do with it. But it'll be quite the opposite from last year's summer vacation... where I had hardly any "free" time, with the weddings, the internship, and whatnot.
