Happy Birthday to Me!

Today, I turn 20... I am no longer a teenager! More interestingly, I am 7306 Days old.

Lately, I have been reminiscing a lot and I have to admit, my teen years were pretty memorable. I can't wait to see what life brings my way in the coming years.

Ever since we are very little, all we want to do is "grow up". At this point in my life though, I can honestly say that I wish my life would slow down. At the same time, I am definitely fortunate to have lived through so many of the experiences I have had... as I have definitely learned something from them (especially about myself).

E.R.

Hospitals. Ugh. I hate them.

Monday evening, my mom was hospitalized for a pretty severe asthma attack and although she started receiving treatment right off the bat in the emergency room, we had to wait over six hours before she was seen by the doctor. Not only that, but the sight was shocking - patients were laying around in the lobbies and hallways and basically anywhere the beds were able to roll. I have to admit that I was pretty surprised to see that in New Jersey.

But what matters is the care my mom received in the hospital.. and fortunately she received pretty good care. Overall, the nurses and doctors were really nice and took pretty good care of my mom... but of course nothing beats being home.

At this point I have been up for well over 48 hours and I am exhausted (Monday night my brothers and I got home from the hospital really late and then I couldn't sleep because I am a worry-wart and then last night I stayed in the hospital with my mom). Throughout the night, I felt like every five minutes a nurse, an aide, or someone would come in to do one thing or another. But, my god, I have to give them credit for their patience and the way they carry themselves. I know there is no way I would be able to do what they do day in and day out. Throughout the day, considering it was the summer, many student doctors would be coming in and out and it was interesting to see the contrast between them and practiced doctors.

The Dark Knight

My brothers and I went to see "The Dark Knight" earlier today, and while it isn't the type of movie I usually enjoy watching, I have to admit it was really good.

Heath Ledger, as the Joker, was disgustingly creepy... so I guess he did his part. :) He definitely gave me the goosebumps several times in the movie and he definitely deserves a posthumously Oscar for his amazing role. Once you see the movie, you see how into his role he became and it's so easy to see why he would have felt the need to turned to the drugs. While I am not saying at all that I agree with the idea of drugs (because I am a 100% against it), you do get to see a little of his point of view and the toll his role as the Joker took on him.

Internship

Go figure... just when my internship is about to end, I actually start enjoying it. In the last week I have finally got to experience going to court twice ... and I'm going again on Tuesday.

Trip to Canada

After a very fun-filled week in Canada because of all the wedding events and family events, we arrived back home late last night. The ride back home took forever! Getting from Mississauga to the United States and Canada border usually takes a mere forty five minutes... but yesterday it took us over three and a half hours! Traffic in general is horrible.. but when it takes over two hours to travel one mile - that is just ridiculous.. and very annoying! Fortunately we didn't get too much more traffic for the rest of the way.

Congratulations Adnan Bhai and Dania! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness.

I can't believe half of the summer is over already! It is going by waaayy to fast! :(
