A Quick Recap of the Weekend

I HATE when everyone leaves at the same time, and that is exactly what happened this past Sunday. We had family arriving last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for various family gatherings, but they all left Sunday.

On Friday night, our aunt and uncle (Chotti Anna and Javed Chachoo) hosted a BBQ, and it turned out to be a graduation party for all the graduates in our immediate family (six of us from NJ and one from Canada) and a house-warming party for them at the same time. Saturday, we had a brunch at our house and that night was Shahbaz's Graduation Party.

Not only did all my aunts and uncles and their families leave, but so did Faraz!

If I said it didn't seem weird, I would be lying.

I guess it will take some getting used to. Even though Faraz has lived away in Hoboken for five years, we still saw him a couple of time a month. We're planning on going to Canada at the end of the month though, so we'll see him then.

Sunday night, after all of our relatives had left, we went to see the fireworks at Piscataway High School and then yesterday went to NYC for a few hours in a the evening. It's funny that we have lived here for so many years (ten to be exact) and haven't really seen many of the tourist spots.

P.S. Don't forget to leave me a comment below on your thoughts! As always, I'd love to hear from you.

Week in Review

It's been a little over a week of summer vacation and i am LOVING the down time. It's nice not having too constantly stress over deadlines... and these past few days have been a lot of fun especially.

This past thursday was shazia's and zehra's graduation. because they graduated from different colleges within Rutgers and the timing overlapped, i went to shazia's graduation. it was a pretty long ceremony (and about 2,675 graduates), and it was pretty hot, but still a lot of fun. Later that night, we went to zehra's for a BBQ dinner to celebrate (and the food was delicious - i LOVE bihari kakab and bbq chicken!)

then on friday, the girls went out to dinner at red lobster to celebrate shazia's graduation. afterwards, we went to finally see the movie Angels and Demons... and my goodness was it gruesome! It was good overall, just not my type of movie.

sunday, we had another one of our monthly game nights (at imran's) and then a couple of my cousins and i ended up sleeping over there. monday (yesterday) morning was another crazy morning as we got everything ready for zehra's surprise graduation picnic party. the weather was HOT but it was a lot of fun and i'm SO glad the surprise wasn't ruined!

i have had next to no sleep these past six days and so it has been very tiring BUT so much fun! i definitely want to enjoy this summer as much as a possibly can. All the planning and craziness for the parties paid off, alhumduillah and everything was a lot of fun.

Congratulations once again to Shazia and Zehra (and all the other graduates)! I'm so proud of you and your accomplishments!

this past friday i also FINALLY registered for the LSATs for the upcoming september, which means i REALLY have to start studying now! I can't believe I'm graduating next year!

On a completely different note, i woke up this morning to realize that Obama has chosen federal Judge Sonia Sotomayor to be nominated to be a Supreme Court Justice. She's a women obviously and i knew he was going to pick a women (he better had). And many speculated it would be a hispanic... and with Sotomayor, Obama chose the first hispanic and she's still a woman. The last few days have been so busy, that i haven't even read the news lately - so i didn't even realize Obama was about to announce his nomination. Oh well.

The beginning of house hunting

Right after getting out of my final yesterday, i joined my parents in looking at houses (they have been doing that all week)... and all day today, we did the same thing. My goodness, we've seen over twenty houses in the span of two days and each house seems to have something missing.... only if we could combine several of the houses, we would have found our "perfect" house. and of course, the prices in the area are down right insane.

Of all the houses i have looked at all day yesterday and today, there were only two (one that we saw yesterday and one that we saw today) that i (and the rest of my family) "liked" and would even consider. hopefully, we will find a great house soon... because house hunting is down right exhausting!

On a much brighter note, today was my first day of summer vacation! and let me tell you, it feels SO weird not having to stress constantly about all the work i usually have during the semester. after a few weeks of just relaxing, i'll start concentrating on my LSATs review.

Three-Fourths DONE!

I'm DONE! I had my last final this morning and now I'm unofficially a senior at Rutgers! I am three-fourths done undergrad… wow, that's pretty weird.

Even weirder is the fact that i started receiving information about my graduation a couple of days ago... even though that is still a year away (but i'm sure it'll fly by)!

anyways, summer vacation is FINALLY here!

I don't really have many extensive plans so far for the summer, but I'm looking forward to going to Disney with some of my family from my mom's side in june… and of course going to Canada as we always do… I am also definitely looking forward to enjoying some down time!

P.S. Happy Birthday Shakil Bhai and Popi Baji!

Time.. anyone have any to spare?

Haven't posted in forever.. even though so much has gone on... but just have absolutely no time! No matter how much you do, you just never seem to have enough time!

I'm sure I'll have more time to post when classes and exams are done. Right now, my life is basically writing papers or studying :(... and friday night hang outs with a few of my cousins (but hey, i NEED that break!)

At the end of this semester, I'm going to be 22 credits away from GRADUATING as an undergraduate! It's absolutely crazy how fast time is flying by!

Internship Opportunity

I have an opportunity to intern at the Nixon Presidential Library in California this summer (June to August)! How neat would that be?? I don't have all the details yet, but my goodness.. what an experience that would be.

Internship Ends

So yesterday was my last day at my internship at "Manhattan Legal Services" and I can't believe how fast it flew by. Of course just as I was finally beginning to enjoy it a bit, it was ending. Doesn't it always seem to work that way?

I guess that means my three weeks of summer vacation starts today... and basically all I want to do is NOTHING. As soon as classes starts, I know I am not going to have any free time so it's best to take advantage of that now.

Where has this summer gone?

Trip to Canada

After a very fun-filled week in Canada because of all the wedding events and family events, we arrived back home late last night. The ride back home took forever! Getting from Mississauga to the United States and Canada border usually takes a mere forty five minutes... but yesterday it took us over three and a half hours! Traffic in general is horrible.. but when it takes over two hours to travel one mile - that is just ridiculous.. and very annoying! Fortunately we didn't get too much more traffic for the rest of the way.

Congratulations Adnan Bhai and Dania! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness.

I can't believe half of the summer is over already! It is going by waaayy to fast! :(

Yay for a Vacation!

I've been interning for a month now... and boy am I glad for a vacation! My family and I, on Monday, will be going to Canada for about a week for my cousin's wedding. The week should be a lot of fun - and very exhausting!

So far the internship has not turned out to be what I had expected at all, but that is life... I suppose.

I can't believe how fast the summer is flying by! :(

Home Sweet Home

And We're Back.

After a pretty long day, we are finally back home. At this point, I am exhausted and want to sleep for the rest of the day, but I'm going to try and avoid that in an effort to get back to our timings here.

Once again, a special thanks to our family in Norway who made our first trip to Europe very memorable. We had an amazing time.

Monday, bright and early, I have my orientation for my internship... which will take over the rest of my summer.

And So it Begins

So today is officially my first day of summer vacation (considering I had work yesterday)..and waking up around 10 today felt AMAZING! I haven't had a chance to sleep in forever. So far, it has been okay just being lazy for the day (it's only about 3 P.M.)... but I am definitely not used to not having anything to do since during the semester I never get a second to myself.

At the same time, fortunately my summer will be pretty packed. Thankfully I just confirmed my internship for the summer and my orientation is on June 2nd, which is right after I come back from Norway ... so I won't have much time to waste. I am sure this experience will be great and I will learn a lot from it. I am definitely looking forward to the experience. It's at a law firm, and what is great is that what I will be doing deals directly with my psychology field as well. I'll be interning in Manhattan, so I hope I don't get tired of going there so often -- especially with the trains always delayed and what not. :) But, whatever, the experience will (hopefully) be worth it.

Besides the internship and Norway, I have a couple of family weddings to look forward to (one involving a week long trip to Canada - which is always fun). I absolutely hate coming back from Canada (even though I went four times last year!).

Five days and counting until I leave for Norway!
